After a stint on Wall Street and then to the financial futures trading pits in Chicago, Vinnie sought out yoga as a stress reliever from the tumultuous trading life in 1986. He has been studying, practicing yoga ever since and started teaching in 1999. His teaching led to the founding of Akal Yoga in the financial district of Chicago in 2002. He has studied under a variety of yoga disciplines over the past 30 years: Iyengar, Anusara, Forrest Yoga, Kundalini, Astanga, Viniyoga, Power Yoga and ParaYoga. He has taught students of all ages and conditions including, re-habs, prison and handicapped adults. He is adept at teaching groups with various yoga experiences.
At 65 years and after extensive travels, Vinnie has a wealth of knowledge that he enjoys sharing with others. His approach to yoga is therapeutic, emphasizing the breath and mindfulness in every asana. Vinnie is a daily Vipasana meditator and open water swimmer. He is also an accomplished Thai Massage Practitioner after years of training in Thailand. His classes are best described as, “Mindful Vinyasa”. |
